What is potassium sorbate?

Our Potassium Sorbate is a premium refined crystalline salt and is the potassium salt of sorbic acid. Its main function is to inhibit the growth of mold, yeast and microbes, which in turn increases the shelf life of food products. It can be used in many foods such as cheese, soft drinks/fruit drinks, wine, dried meat, nuts, yogurt, apple cider, wine and baked goods. Potassium Sorbate is not suitable for bread making or baking products that use yeast. In wine, potassium sorbate produces sorbic acid which inhibits the multiplication of surviving yeasts once the final racking of the wine is complete. It can also be used to clarify and prevent refermentation in apple cider, sweet wine and sparkling wine. Suitable for vegans, vegetarians, ova-lacto-vegetarians, non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher friendly, halal friendly.
